week two ...

monday 24th september 2007 Things are moving so quickly...today all the trenches for the lower floor level were dug. Our Building control inspector was happy and just wanted a slightly deeper trench on the made up ground at the front. The boys worked really hard to get it all done and all I had to offer them was pink wafer biscuits! tuesday 25th The trenches for the lounge were dug, the sewer pipe replaced and the first pour of concrete was done. In fact 5 lorry loads of the stuff - 30 cubic meters in all wednesday 26th the day started with a few concerns over the complicated footings, but ended with corners in place and chocolate muffins - to make up for the fact that the guys had to move all the blocks so that e.on could erect a new pole tomorrow! thursday 27th wow what a great day, we had over 20 people on site throughout the day doing various things. Mostly e.on staff moving the electrical cables. I spent the whole day on site and had great fun, it was sunny, busy and generally happy. e.on managed to screw up the plans once again and so our stay is not where we agreed it would go, but after six months of stress at the hands of e.on I was just relieved something was finally happening. friday 28th - Christians Birthday the majority of the lower ground blockwork was completed today, rain only just held off and it was cold, muddy and dull. Chris was amazed on his return from lancashire at how much had been done. Took Chris to Cribbs for a birthday shopping trip then ate at the Raj.
