December 2004 Bought our first Self build mag and decided to build a house! Jan 05 - May 05 Searched for a plot, visited self build show, looked at timber frame companies, met with planning officer May 05 Saw 'the' plot with outline permission via local estate agents - offer accepted July 05 Completed on land, had a BBQ to celebrate, cut grass and 4m wide hedges back September 05 Asked Welsh Oak to design our house October 05 Surveyor did site survey December 05 First Welsh Oak design arrives March 06 Ready to submit plans but delayed by discovering a public sewer pipe right through the plot. Applied for build over permission as insisted by planning office August 06 Build over permission granted, submited plans, but new requirments were introduced a few days earlier that meant we needed a Design and Access statement so plans returned September 06 Submitted plans with D and A statement October 06 Revised plans, moving house forward, enlarging build area, planning time extended by 5 weeks. Put caravan and storage container on site December 06 Advised that plans would pass and day before the deision was due were told that they had not, asked council to extend time to allow us to make further changes. Re-positioned house, lowered roof line and removed front (master!!!) bedroom window February 07 Detailed planning permission granted - realised that the changes with the house now meant we had to move the overhead electricity cables, contacted e.on March 07 e.on first site visit, Welsh Oak start working on building regs drawings, applied to move electric cables June 07 Building regs passed, contacted service providers, looked at site insurance and 10yr warrenty September 07 - Groundworkers started on site.
